Daddy is gone for a week? What are we going to do with ourselves?
One word. Roadtrip!!!!
We packed up the car and hit the road for a fabulous vacation to Southeastern Wisconsin, our former home. There were friends to visit, old haunts to play at, and adventures to be had!
But first, a half-hour into the drive, we had to make a stop.
The humor and irony of a potty stop less than 30 minutes after leaving the house wasn't lost on this mommy. I made them pose for a picture!
Back on the road again, we were able to drive the next 1.5 hours non-stop to pick up our travel companion (a.k.a. mommy's sanity helper) (a.k.a. grandma)
See how excited she was to be going on a trip with us?
She was waiting in the driveway. Pa was even jumping up and down. He'll deny it, but I think it was because with grandma gone for the weekend, he was in store for some peace and quiet.
Just in time for rush hour, we departed the south suburbs of Chicago en route to Milwaukee. Did I mention that this was summer time? And you know what summer time means in Illinois, don't you?
Construction. And lots of it.
Did I mention that it was also rush hour?
After a not-so-quick 3 hour drive, we were there, and ready for some fun.
We checked into the hotel, and still had a couple of hours before the indoor water park closed for the night. Time for swimming!
Have I mentioned what a good sport my mom is? What a grandma!
Finally tired out from our day of traveling and swimming, it was time for bed.
Did I mention that this was only the 2nd time ever that we were attempting to all sleep in the same hotel room?
Day 1 of our trip was a success! Tune in tomorrow to hear more about our adventures in Milwaukee!
